PhotoPlus: Icon 1
Overview
This tutorial will teach you how to make an icon using the free program PhotoPlus 6.Step-by-Step
Step 1: Open up your image.Step 2: Crop and resize the image 100x100 pixels.
Step 3: Duplicate the background layer and set the blend mode to overlay.
Step 4: Use the following texture and set it to Dodge with 30% opacity.
Step 5: Go back to your background layer and copy&paste it as a new image.
Step 6: Go to Image > Adjust > Grayscale
Step 7: Press Ctrl +A on your keyboard to select the whole image. Press Ctrl + C on your keyboard to copy it.
Step 8: Go back to the original image and press Ctrl + L on your keyboard to paste it as a new layer. If it's not at the top of the layers pallette - move it there.
Step 9: Change the blend mode of the layer with the grayscaled image to Lighten with 68% opacity.
Step 10: Use this texture and set it to Lightness with 30% opacity.
Step 11: Use this texture and set it to Screen with 50% opacity.
Step 12: Add some text to your icon. Then go to Layers > Effects > Bevel and use my settings.
Step 13: Paste this image on top of your icon. Set it to overlay at 100% and then duplicate the layer.
Step 14: Merge all the layers together and you're done.
